Summary of the project
Progetto Continenti, together with the Diocese of Hawassa, intends to provide a nursery school in Shafina, a poverty-stricken, remote institution, with quality training courses.
In particular it aims to:
- Provide cultural, social and emotional education and training to boys and girls, placing them at the center of the educational process of the educational community.
- Contribute to reducing the rate of illiteracy and school dropout.
- Support families and in particular mothers who will be supported in the educational process of their children and will be able to work.
- Contribute to the strengthening of the Christian community of the Diocese.
The direct beneficiaries would include approximately 80 children and their parents.
The indirect beneficiaries would be the families of the children who will enjoy the improvement of their living conditions. From an educational and economic point of view, the teachers, theeducational community.
Shafina, a very impoverished village whose main activity is linked to agriculture and, in particular, to the cultivation of coffee. The nursery school serves families residing in areas severely affected by poverty, where residents, due to their economic circumstances, are unable to contribute to school expenses.
The nursery school will be a protected place capable of welcoming diversity and promoting the potential of all children, who betweenthe ages of three and six express a great abundance of needs and emotions. They are ready to engage with and explore new languages, posing thought-provoking and unconventional inquiries to themselves, their peers, and adults.
